The Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLU’s) has released the Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT)- 2022 application form on January 1, 2022, on their official website: Click Here

Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is organised by the Consortium of National Law Universities for the students who want to be enrolled in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law courses offered by the 22 National Law Universities. Most private and self-financed law schools in India also use these scores for law admissions.

As per the official notification by the consortium, the applications have to be submitted ONLINE only from the website www.consortiumofnlus.ac.in .

Exam Highlights

CLAT APPLICATION

Application fees can be paid through online mode only. 

Candidates of General/OBC/PWD/PIO/OIC categories have to pay Rs. 4,000/- as application fee. The application fee for SC/ST and BPL category candidates is Rs. 3,500/-.

• Note: Candidates who want the previous year's question paper have to pay Rs. 500/- extra apart from their application fee.

• Kindly note that the application fee once paid is non-refundable.

 Admit card/Hall ticket

The Admit Card/Hall ticket can be downloaded by the candidate by logging into his/her account. The exact date on which the hall tickets will be made available will be intimated on our website.

CLAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Educational Qualification: 

Candidates who want to appear in the UG-CLAT 2022 examination must have cleared Higher Secondary examination (10+2) and he/she must have secured the minimum qualifying marks:

1. For the candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories: Forty-five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade. 

2. For the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories: Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent.

Note:

• Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2022 are also eligible to appear in UG-CLAT 2022 examination.

• However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission and the result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted at the time of admission failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.

Age Limit:

There will be no upper age limit for UG-CLAT 2022 program.

CLAT EXAM PATTERN

The UG-CLAT 2022 exam will be conducted in English language only. Pattern for the exam is given below:

Note:

• Each question will carry 1 mark.

• There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

CLAT SYLLABUS

UG-CLAT 2022 Syllabus prescribed by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) comprises five sections - English language, current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques. 

The UG-CLAT 2022 would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills.

CLAT SELECTION

The selection of the candidate will be based on their performance in the CLAT exam and the seats will be allocated to them on the basis of the merit or their All India Rank.

The second step to the admission involves centralised counselling on the basis of the candidate's preference of NLU’s.

Around 22 NLU’s are participating in CLAT 2022. Below is the list of the colleges:

CLAT CUT OFF

The Consortium of the National Law Universities will declare the result of the CLAT-2022 exam in the third week of May and the cut-off’s of CLAT-2022 will depend on the various factors, such as the number of seats provided by the universities, performance of the candidates, number of the candidates appearing for the exam and reservations.

Government servants are receiving a considerably good salary package in the country.

The other professions, even though private, also earn a significant amount of money.

Graduates from the top school will get around Rs. 3 to Rs. 15 Lakh per annum working at Indian Law firms and Organisations. Whereas graduates who work with the Top tier law firms as corporate lawyers will get a package of Rs. 12 to Rs. 20 Lakh (approx) per annum.
